Falls of Dochart, Loch Tay

The Falls of Dochart, Loch Tay.
The spectacular Falls of Dochart can be found at the west end of Loch Tay near the village of Killin which is only a short drive along the A827 from the Luxury Holiday Homes at Tigh na Loan, Fearnan, Loch Tay.

A bridge crosses the river just as you enter Killin giving a fabulous view of the falls as they cascade down onto the rocks. When the water is low visitors can sit on the rocks above the bridge and admire the view.

This was the scene last week when I visited the Luxury Holiday Homes at Tigh Na Loan, Fearnan, Loch Tay. A group of friends out on Loch Tay in their canoes enjoying the lovely weather.

There are many opportunities for canoeists on Loch Tay. Many visitors bring canoes with them but both Croft-na-Caber and the Loch Tay Boating Centre hire canoes and organise trips down the river.

Canoes can be launched from the beach or from the launching points at either of the above centres.

It's in an ideal location for residents and visitors at Tigh Na Loan to pop in for early morning coffee, lunch or a delicious evening meal.

This is the view from the window of one of the Luxury Holiday Homes at Tigh na Loan, Fearnan, Loch Tay currently being constructed by Hadden Homes. Tigh Na Loan comprises of one, two and three bedroom homes complete with bar/restaurant and retail facilities.

These magnificent properties are situated right on the shore and afford excellent views of Loch Tay. Unfortunately it was a cloudy day when this picture was taken but you can imagine how wonderful the view is when the sun is shining.

The Crannog Centre, Loch Tay has a variety of interesting events taking place throughout the year. On Saturday 28th June they're hosting an Iron Age Archery event from 11am to 4pm when you can discover simple bows and arrows and try your skill at hitting the target. Suitable for ages 7+

Pitlochry Festival Theatre near Loch Tay

Pitlochry Festival Theatre near Loch Tay.
Just a short journey from the Luxury Holiday Homes at Tigh Na Loan, Fearnan, Loch Tay you will find Pitlochry Festival Theatre.

The theatre sits on the banks of the River Tummel and is a long established and well respected theatre company with something to suit every taste and interest, from Georgian comedy and contemporary drama to historical romance and 1970s farce.

Pitlochry Festival Theatre's season runs from May through to October with six outstanding plays on offer.

Highland Dancing at Kenmore, Loch Tay

Just 2 miles along the road from the Luxury Holiday Homes at Tigh Na Loan, Fearnan, Loch Tay is the delightful village of Kenmore.

On Wednesday 2nd July 2008 the village will hold their annual Highland Games at 6pm in the games field. There will be a pipe band, highland dancing and a bouncy castle and soft play equipment for the children. There will also be races for adult and junior competitiors and the usual hill race up the Manse Brae.

Just a short drive from the Luxury Holiday Homes at Tigh Na Loan, Fearnan, Loch Tay you will find the small town of Pitlochry which is famous for its hydro-electric dam and salmon ladder.

The ladder was specially constructed to allow the salmon to by-pass the dam and make their way upstream to Loch Faskally. It is estimated that approximately 5000 salmon use the ladder each year between April and late September to return to their spawning grounds. A special viewing chamber allows visitors a close up view of the travelling wild salmon.
